Data Services & Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Data Services & Infrastructure Specialist to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines that empower data‑driven decisions across Almosafer’s travel platforms. The role combines backend engineering, big‑data processing and API development within a fast‑growing travel & tourism environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines using Python, Java or Scala.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT frameworks with Apache Spark (batch and streaming).
• Write advanced SQL queries for transformation, validation and analytics.
• Develop APIs to expose data to internal services.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data sources.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and product teams to support analytics and machine‑learning use cases.
• Implement data validation, logging and error‑handling mechanisms.
• Optimise pipeline performance and manage large‑scale datasets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on data engineering or big‑data development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Python, Java, Scala programming.
• Apache Spark (batch & streaming).
• SQL (advanced queries).
• Bash/Shell scripting.
• API development (Python, Java).
• AWS services: S3, RDS, Redshift, Glue, EMR, Athena, Lambda.
• Data modelling and data warehousing.
• Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Familiarity with GenAI integrations such as LLMs and LangChain (plus).
