Entry-Level Perl Software Developer

About the role

Wiley’s eJournalPress division is looking for an entry‑level Software Developer to join a dynamic team that powers peer‑review and production software for academic societies. You will help enhance client‑requested features, troubleshoot bugs, and contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement client‑requested enhancements, often communicating directly with clients.
• Identify, analyze, research, and resolve software bugs.
• Test all code changes and ensure quality.
• Document coding changes and solutions.
• Participate in the full software development life‑cycle: design, code, test, and maintain applications.

Required profile

• Strong understanding and experience with SQL (MSSQL/Oracle), HTML, and JavaScript.
• Willingness to learn Perl.
• Knowledge of CSS, DHTML, XML, and Apache.
• Ability to analyze problems, conduct research, and devise solutions.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Quick learner with strong written and oral communication skills across technical and non‑technical teams.
• Nice to have: interest or experience in QA testing.
