Finance Manager – National (Treasury & Accounting)

About the role

The Finance Manager – National will lead Treasury and Accounting functions for the Syria Country Office, ensuring accurate financial operations, cash flow management, and compliance with donor and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day Treasury operations, including bank liaison, cash management, and weekend/month‑end cash counts.
• Process daily bank and cash payments in line with the SCI Finance manual.
• Oversee payroll, benefits, tax calculations and ensure timely payments.
• Lead month‑end close activities: amortisation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for regional and central offices.
• Review trial balances, resolve balance‑sheet issues, and communicate pending items to field offices.
• Develop and monitor cash forecasts for the country programme and train field staff on forecasting.
• Ensure donor‑compliant reclassifications and support field offices in efficient accounting practices.
• Coordinate audit processes and provide finance training and inductions.

Required profile

• Understanding of humanitarian contexts and application of humanitarian principles.
• Ability to assess and analyse key issues in humanitarian situations and propose actions.
• Strong coordination skills with programme and sub‑award units.
