Head of Balance Sheet Management (BSM) – Jordan

About the role

Bank of Jordan is looking for a Head of Balance Sheet Management (BSM) based in Amman. The role covers the management, oversight and strategy of asset, liability and capital management activities, including liquidity and funding, pricing, risk monitoring and compliance with BSM policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, oversee and support BSM teams and develop ALM and balance sheet risk management strategies.
• Monitor balance sheet risks across the Bank and manage them in line with the approved strategy.
• Ensure strict adherence to BSM policies and an effective controls environment.
• Support the ICAAP, ILAAP and CFP, and support the preparation of the ALCO pack.
• Communicate BSM issues, risks and challenges to the Group Head of BSM, ALCO and other stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, BOJ international branches, Middle Office, Treasury Risk and TROPS.
• Oversight of the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) process.
• Undertake strategic liquidity and IRR analysis, determine hedging strategy and hedge requirements.

Required profile

• Degree, ideally postgraduate, in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, engineering or economics.
• Treasury qualifications from a recognized body.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in active balance sheet management, or a mix of balance sheet management and treasury risk roles, ideally from a global or large regional bank.
• Fluent English and strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proactive, analytical and commercial, able to work independently and under pressure.

Required skills

• Modelling, statistics and/or financial mathematics.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of central bank regulations and the banking market.
