InterSystems IRIS / FHIR Integration Engineer

About the role

The InterSystems IRIS / FHIR Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the IRIS infrastructure and applications so that they perform well, securely and reliably. The role centres on system integration, configuration and continuous improvement of IRIS modules, working with cross-functional teams to match system capabilities with business needs and to support end users.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and efficient data exchange across partner APIs.
• Ingest healthcare data from source systems into FHIR resources and profiles by developing ETL processes.
• Design and implement scalable, high-volume data integration and interoperability solutions using IRIS for Health, Ensemble, Cache and ObjectScript.
• Create tables, classes, program logic, APIs and backend code, and build job routines according to client requirements.
• Build, enhance and maintain healthcare interfaces using HL7v2, HL7v3, FHIR, CDA and X12, and map non-FHIR data to FHIR.
• Maintain FHIR data models, terminology mappings (SNOMED, ICD, LOINC) and privacy filters.
• Develop REST/SOAP web services and configure ISC API Manager to create APIs.
• Implement security measures, access controls and HIPAA compliance, and document FHIR implementations and data flows.
• Use GIT, Atlassian and scripting to improve deployment and integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field.
• Professional certifications in systems engineering, cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) or ERP systems are a plus.
• Experience in system integration, data migration and application configuration.
• Proven track record in project management and building client relationships.

Required skills

• SQL, database management and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.
• Knowledge of cloud environments, virtualization and data security standards.
• Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
