Linguist (Farsi) & Iranian Cultural Advisor

About the role

This position provides expert cultural, political and linguistic support on Iran for USCENTCOM and allied partners. The incumbent will work in a deployed environment, delivering analysis, translation and advisory services to senior military and government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Offer subject‑matter expertise on Iranian culture, politics, social media, regime influence, religious and ethnic groups, and moderate voices.
• Support counter‑extremist initiatives through cultural, linguistic and regional analysis.
• Translate, interpret, transcribe and analyze oral and written material, preserving meaning, tone and context.
• Conduct media analysis and provide cultural advisement to produce actionable intelligence.
• Interpret between Farsi and English in operational briefings, working groups and leader‑engagement events.
• Research source‑language sources and draft command‑level information papers.
• Serve as a cultural SME for USCENTCOM, inter‑agency and coalition working groups.
• Maintain familiarity with specialized terminology, customs, symbolism and traditions across the CENTCOM AOR.
• Work extended or shift‑based schedules and be ready to deploy for 180‑365 days.

Required profile

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or four years of equivalent experience.
• Minimum eight years of relevant experience, including at least five years supporting U.S. Armed Forces or government agencies.
• Recognized expertise in Iranian culture, politics and regional dynamics.
• High language proficiency scores (English 4/4/4, Farsi 5/5/5).
• Willingness to deploy to Camp Xiphos, Jordan, with a valid U.S. passport and ability to meet Jordanian visa requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, briefing and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
