Operations Officer

About the role

The Operations Officer coordinates vessel and cargo activities at the port, acting as the primary liaison between ship masters, authorities, and internal teams to ensure efficient and compliant turn‑around.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain 24/7 communication with vessel masters, providing daily position updates and operational status.
• Verify and process all pre‑arrival documentation, submit information to Port State Control and relevant authorities.
• Supervise loading and discharging operations, approve stowage sequences, monitor cargo quantities and estimate completion times.
• Coordinate bulk cargo sampling, crew change logistics, and arrange services such as tugboats, pilots and port clearances.
• Handle special vessels including cruise and military ships, liaising with immigration and navy authorities.
• Prepare and submit cargo documentation, vessel certificates, statements of service and monthly KPI reports.
• Archive all communications and documentation for each port call.

Required profile

• Proven experience in vessel and cargo operations within a port environment.
• Strong knowledge of port regulations, customs, immigration and maritime authority requirements.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, able to manage multiple stakeholders around the clock.
• Ability to prepare accurate operational reports and maintain comprehensive records.
