Retail Remedial Officer

About the role

The Retail Remedial Officer supports the management and recovery of delinquent and non‑performing accounts within the bank’s retail portfolio. The role monitors assigned accounts, engages with customers and guarantors, assesses repayment capacity and recommends restructuring, rescheduling or settlement solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve collection targets set by the Retail and Remedial In‑Charge or Department Manager.
• Manage and monitor delinquent and non‑performing retail accounts.
• Prepare restructuring, rescheduling and settlement proposals in line with approved policies.
• Monitor repayment plans and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
• Coordinate with Credit, Collection, Legal, Branches and other relevant departments.
• Prepare regular reports and updates on portfolio performance and remedial activities.
• Conduct credit studies on defaulting clients or guarantors and develop recommendations.
• Maintain polite, professional communication with debtors to explain payment importance and resolve disputes.
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate, adhering to company guidelines.
• Evaluate creditworthiness of debtors and recommend credit limits or restrictions.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations and best practices in debt collection.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in retail collections, debt recovery or a similar banking role.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of collection policies, relevant regulations and financial analysis.
