Senior Backend Developer

About the role

Petra Ride is building a real‑time, two‑sided marketplace that connects riders and captains. As a Senior Backend Developer you will design, implement and own the core services that power this high‑traffic platform, ensuring performance, reliability and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs supporting real‑time rider and captain experiences.
• Make architectural decisions, optimize database and application performance, and manage caching, queues and asynchronous processing.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and improve system reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Mobile, QA, Data and DevOps teams from design to production.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ownership attitude.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, high‑traffic environment.
• Curiosity about new technologies, system design and scalability challenges.

Required skills

• SQL, database design, indexing and performance optimization.
• Experience with caching (e.g., Redis), message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous processing.
• Microservices, distributed systems and real‑time architecture.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
