Senior Business Development & Grants Manager – Multi‑Country Office (MCO)

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a senior professional to lead business development, pre‑positioning and grants functions across its Multi‑Country Office (MCO) covering Syria, Jordan and Yemen. Based in Amman, the role will drive resource mobilisation, donor engagement and high‑quality proposal development to support the organisation’s regional strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for program development, business development and grants management across the three countries, aligning with Mercy Corps’ Pathway to Possibility objectives.
• Oversee the full grants lifecycle, from prospect identification and proposal writing to award negotiation, implementation monitoring and close‑out reporting.
• Lead and mentor the Reporting Officer, ensuring clear performance objectives, regular coaching and professional development.
• Coordinate with Country Managers, program teams and regional award management to ensure consistent, compliant donor communications and reporting.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of funding opportunities, cultivating relationships with existing and prospective donors.
• Ensure harmonisation of grant processes, templates and compliance standards across the MCO portfolio.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in business development, grants management or resource mobilisation within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven track record of securing large‑scale funding from bilateral, multilateral or private donors.
• Strong leadership and people‑management experience, including supervising staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple countries and cultures, managing complex stakeholder relationships.
