Senior Clearance Officer – Pharmaceutical Imports

About the role

The Senior Clearance Officer will lead the end‑to‑end import clearance process for pharmaceutical raw materials, packaging and finished products, ensuring full compliance with Jordanian customs regulations and JFDA requirements while minimizing delays and costs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete import clearance cycle from port arrival to warehouse delivery for APIs, excipients, packaging and finished goods.
• Prepare, review and submit customs declarations, import permits and supporting documents (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading).
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders and shipping lines to achieve timely, cost‑effective clearance.
• Classify goods under correct HS codes and apply duty exemptions or incentives for pharmaceutical imports.
• Prepare and submit JFDA import applications, including GMP certificates, CPP, batch release and labeling approvals.
• Act as the primary contact with JFDA and customs authorities, monitor regulatory changes and support inspections or audits.
• Track shipment status, clearance lead times and demurrage costs; resolve holds or documentation discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Procurement, QA/QC, Regulatory Affairs, Warehouse and Finance to ensure smooth import‑to‑inventory flow.
• Maintain audit‑ready records and produce KPI reports on clearance performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics or related field.
• 5–7 years of import/customs clearance experience, at least 3 years within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Hands‑on experience with JFDA import registration and clearance processes.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders and government authorities.
