About the role
NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Non-Key Expert to provide technical, policy and investment support for railway projects worldwide. The role focuses on delivering sustainable, low‑carbon railway infrastructure and services in line with European and international standards.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, prepare and implement railway infrastructure and systems projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
- Support railway planning, corridor development, operations planning and multimodal integration.
- Advise on rail infrastructure, signalling, interoperability (including ERTMS), traffic management and safety systems.
- Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, and operation & maintenance planning.
- Promote climate‑resilient and low‑carbon railway solutions.
- Apply European and international railway standards and best practices.
- Contribute to environmental and social assessments and climate‑resilience considerations.
- Support policy, regulatory and institutional reforms in the railway sector.
- Provide capacity building and technical assistance to public authorities, infrastructure managers and operators.
- Coordinate with public authorities, contractors, IFIs and development partners.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in railway engineering, civil engineering, transport engineering, transport operations or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of the railway sector, including infrastructure, operations, interoperability and safety systems.
- Proven experience in feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design and investment analysis.
- Experience with railway planning, corridor development and multimodal integration.
- Familiarity with European standards such as ERTMS and other international railway standards.
- Ability to conduct environmental, social and climate‑resilience assessments.
- Experience in policy, regulatory and institutional reform support.
- Strong capacity‑building and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
