Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to turn high‑level architecture into robust, scalable Java backend solutions that enhance learning and engagement experiences. You will work independently, own services across the full software lifecycle, and help shape the technical direction of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and release high‑performance Java applications.
• Translate architectural concepts into detailed technical designs for development teams.
• Provide technical leadership, guiding design decisions and best‑practice implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
• Own services from development through production, collaborating with Product, Data Engineering, Data Science and SRE.
• Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Establish code repository structures, branching strategies and enforce engineering standards.
• Champion test‑driven development, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and clean code practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex Java backend systems.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills.
• Experience in Agile, cross‑functional collaboration and full‑lifecycle delivery.
