Shipping Officer

About the role

Join GAC’s Shipping team in Amman as a Shipping Officer, supporting vessel operations at Aqaba port. You will act as the main liaison between the agency, port authorities, customers and crew, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage agency appointments and handle operational and commercial matters for all vessel types calling at Aqaba port.
• Coordinate with Aqaba port authorities on operations and documentation.
• Follow up with customers, principals and related parties.
• Arrange bunker fuel supplies and oversee Ro‑Ro export operations, including space booking, Bills of Lading and manifests.
• Conduct husbandry activities such as crew changes, spare‑parts logistics, landed cargo and provisions supply.
• Process proforma disbursement accounts, calculate final disbursement accounts and respond to tariff inquiries.
• Enter vessel data, services and invoices into GAC systems and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare departmental reports and ensure compliance with GAC Jordan’s administrative procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics or Business Administration.
• 0‑1 years of relevant experience.
• Strong command of English, good communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
