Software Engineer – Backend Development

About the role

We are looking for a full‑time Software Engineer to join our Amman office. You will design, implement and maintain back‑end components that power our products and internal tools, working in a multidisciplinary, research‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, testable code in Java, C#, Python or a similar language.
• Develop and expose RESTful APIs and integrate with databases and external services.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing and continuous integration pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, optimise performance and ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine requirements and deliver robust features.
• Contribute to technical documentation and share best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design principles.
• Hands‑on experience in full software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with agile or iterative development methodologies.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented programming (Java, C#, Python or similar).
• Back‑end web development, API design and database integration.
• Version control with Git.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerisation and CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
