About the role
Chemonics International is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Decision Support Team (DST) of the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) in Amman, Jordan. The DST provides integrated monitoring and analysis of acute food insecurity worldwide, informing United States Government policy and humanitarian assistance. FEWS NET, created in 1985, delivers timely, evidence‑based food‑security early warning information through a network of partners that includes NASA, NOAA, USDA, USGS, UCSB‑CHC, University of Maryland, AIR and others. The team operates from a Washington technical office, regional hubs and national staff across sub‑Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Amman office, enabling the DST to produce regular Food Security Outlooks, emergency alerts and market updates.
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) in daily office tasks.
- Assist with coordination of meetings, travel arrangements, and documentation for the DST.
- Maintain filing systems and ensure timely distribution of reports and updates.
