Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the department head in overseeing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation for a property in Aqaba. The role ensures the building and grounds are safe, secure and well‑maintained while enhancing guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise distribution, tracking and completion of repair work orders.
• Plan, schedule and evaluate preventative maintenance programs.
• Manage the physical plant, including HVAC‑R, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water‑treatment, life‑safety and fire‑pump systems.
• Provide 24/7 emergency response and operate generators as needed.
• Inspect facilities, maintain accurate logs and ensure proper supplies, equipment and uniforms for staff.
• Act as interim supervisor for Engineering in the Director’s absence.
• Recommend and coordinate additional services such as painting, renovations and equipment replacement.
• Purchase new equipment, supplies and furnishings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience and technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical or plumbing, OR
• 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics or related field with 2 years of experience and technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical or plumbing.
