Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the department head in overseeing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation for a large property. This role ensures the safety, security, and protection of assets while enhancing guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing the physical plant, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, and life‑safety systems.
• Supervise distribution, tracking, and completion of repair work orders and ensure quality standards.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs and coordinate additional services such as painting, renovations, and equipment replacement.
• Provide 24/7 emergency response, operate generators and fire pumps, and perform equipment repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and inventory of supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
• Support staff training on safety procedures and promote a culture of excellent customer service.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience, or an associate degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related field with 2 years of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Proven ability to supervise staff and contractors, manage budgets, and prioritize work orders.
