Assistant Manager, Customs Clearance

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Customs Clearance will oversee the end‑to‑end clearance of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods for Nestlé Jordan. You will work closely with the import supervisor, supply chain teams and customs authorities to ensure timely and compliant delivery of shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all steps for clearance of raw/packaging materials and finished goods.
• Monitor shipment arrivals, maintain status reports and obtain delivery orders from shipping lines and forwarders.
• Obtain required permissions, track inland transit and ensure on‑time customs sampling and testing.
• Prepare and validate customs declarations, ensuring correct HS codes are used.
• Coordinate with JFDA, local and transit authorities, DSP, warehouse and logistics teams.
• Validate local clearance charge invoices and manage relationships with third‑party clearance companies.
• Resolve discrepancies, reduce delays and expedite deliveries.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of operational experience in import logistics or customs clearance.
• Strong knowledge of HS codes and existing customs duty agreements.
• Established network with customs officers and municipal representatives in Jordan.
• Familiarity with the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast‑milk Substitutes and the FTSE4Good responsible investment index.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HS code classification and customs duty agreements.
• Experience with SAP transactions related to shipment tracking.
• Understanding of import logistics best practices and quality regulations.
• Awareness of WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast‑milk Substitutes.
• Familiarity with FTSE4Good responsible investment principles.
