Associate Director, API R&D

About the role

Hikma Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Associate Director for API Research & Development to lead the strategic direction and execution of pharmaceutical product development in Amman, Jordan. The role combines scientific leadership with cross‑functional governance to ensure successful design, scale‑up, regulatory readiness, and commercialization of API portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the R&D vision, innovation roadmap and portfolio prioritisation aligned with corporate strategy.
• Establish and continuously improve R&D policies, ensuring compliance with global regulatory, safety and quality standards.
• Provide executive scientific oversight for synthesis, formulation, analytical development, validation, technology transfer and scale‑up activities.
• Guide regulatory‑enabling work, preparing submissions and supporting inspections in target markets.
• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to integrate development activities.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in pharmaceutical API development.
• Strong track record of delivering projects from concept through commercial launch.
• Excellent understanding of global regulatory expectations and quality systems.
• Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and align resources to strategic goals.

Required skills

• Scientific expertise in API synthesis, formulation and analytical development.
• Experience with validation, technology transfer and scale‑up processes.
• Knowledge of regulatory submission requirements for pharmaceutical products.
