Civil & AI Engineer – Construction

About the role

Construction Management Associates advises owners, contractors, lenders and governments on construction and PPP projects across the Middle East, from bid preparation through to construction management, technical advisory, contracts and claims. It is hiring an AI Construction Engineer who knows how work gets built on site, uses AI every day and can spot when an AI answer is wrong. The role is office-based, about 90% of the work in the Amman office with occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Pre-contract: review tender documents, drawings and specifications, prepare clarification registers, compliance matrices and technical bid sections, take off quantities and check bills of quantities, research projects and clients, and attend pre-bid site visits.
• Post-contract: review drawings, specifications and bills of quantities for constructability, cost and programme impact; verify contractors' payment applications; review method statements and construction sequences.
• Monitor progress against the programme, attend progress and design meetings, issue minutes and keep a written log of requests, site instructions and decisions.
• Support contracts and claims with technical records, variation assessments and delay event records, and give the delay and quantum team the site facts and as-built records they need.
• Visit sites for inspections, condition assessments and progress checks, recording everything with photos and notes.
• Write inspection and progress reports and reconcile every number that appears in more than one document.
• Use AI tools such as Claude to read and summarise documents, draft bids and reports, speed up research and verify sources, then check every AI output against drawings, the contract and site observations.
• Build simple AI workflows (clarification registers, quantity checks, document registers, progress reports) and share them with the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Around 3 years of experience, including real time on construction sites in supervision, execution or inspection.
• Experience in tendering or bid preparation is a plus.
• Uses AI tools every day in engineering work and can tell when an answer is wrong.
• Confident reading construction drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and programmes.
• Writes and speaks clearly in English and Arabic.
• Organised, careful with detail and calm under deadlines.

• Primavera P6 and familiarity with FIDIC conditions of contract are a plus.
