Community Planner

About the role

The Community Planner will develop and implement planning solutions for U.S. Air Force Base projects, covering comprehensive planning, transportation, infrastructure, and fiscal analysis. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and surveyors to ensure project success and customer satisfaction while deployed in Jordan.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate, plan, develop, and implement strategies for comprehensive community planning processes.
• Prepare conceptual studies, sketches, and design specifications.
• Provide project siting recommendations and validate requirements against the Installation Development Plan.
• Enter and maintain data on existing and new facilities in the Base Real Property Inventory.
• Make space request recommendations and manage an accurate occupancy database.
• Follow quality, safety, and training programs in compliance with RMS, OSHA, and USAF standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
• Safeguard government and contractor property, including facilities, equipment, and tools.
• Prepare airfield waivers and coordinate airfield projects with engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Community Planning, Urban Affairs, Architecture, or Engineering with relevant experience.
• At least four (4) years of experience in community planning or landscape architecture.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a residency visa for Jordan.
• Willingness to work in extreme environmental conditions and endure long hours.
• DoD Secret security clearance (must be obtained and maintained).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience using GIS for MILCON planning, site selection, land‑use planning, and infrastructure development.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, codes, regulations, and quality standards.
