Data Platform Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a Data Platform Advisor to own the design, deployment, and ongoing operation of our Cloudera CDP environment. The role combines deep technical expertise with hands‑on administration to guarantee high availability, performance, and security of our big‑data ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administer Cloudera CDP clusters, including ETL, data‑science, and reporting tools.
• Perform regular maintenance, patching, upgrades, and hot‑fix deployments.
• Monitor cluster health, resource utilization, and ensure high availability.
• Manage core Hadoop components (HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, HBase, ZooKeeper, Oozie, Impala).
• Troubleshoot node failures, service outages, and performance bottlenecks.
• Implement security controls (Kerberos, Ranger, Sentry, SSL, LDAP/AD).
• Define and execute backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with development teams to support data pipelines and workloads.
• Document architecture, topology changes, and operational procedures.
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, and participate in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in big‑data platforms and cloud tools.
• Proven track record as a Cloudera administrator (CDH/CDP).
• Strong Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• Experience with security frameworks and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
