Design Engineer (Civil)

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer (Civil) to develop, review, and deliver civil engineering designs for construction and infrastructure projects, supporting project delivery from concept through detailed design and tender stages.

Key responsibilities

• Develop civil engineering designs including site layouts, grading, earthworks, drainage, stormwater management, utility coordination, road and pavement sections, retaining structures, and erosion control.
• Prepare calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and bills of quantities to support design and procurement.
• Produce and review engineering drawings and models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or other design software, coordinating with drafting staff.
• Coordinate design interfaces with structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental and geotechnical disciplines and participate in multidisciplinary design meetings.
• Conduct technical reviews, quality checks and peer reviews to ensure compliance with standards and safety requirements.
• Support tendering and procurement by responding to technical queries and providing design input for contractor proposals.
• Assist with site investigations, design verification, and produce as‑built records.
• Provide technical support during construction, review contractor submittals and RFIs, and propose design modifications as needed.
• Maintain design documentation, revision control and project records in line with company procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; professional registration (PE, P.Eng.) is an advantage.
• Minimum 7 years of civil design experience in construction, infrastructure or consultancy, covering site development, drainage, roads and utilities.
• Proven ability to prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and construction‑ready documentation for medium to large projects.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting construction and commissioning phases.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; familiarity with BIM tools.
• Strong engineering analysis skills for grading, drainage, hydraulics and pavement design; experience with drainage and hydrology software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, geotechnical reports, survey data and relevant codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, and PDF markup tools.
• Knowledge of preparing Bills of Quantities, cost estimates and procurement documentation.
