About the role
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is seeking a Family Medicine Consultant to lead the technical update of its Standard Treatment Guidelines – Technical Implementation (STG‑TI) and to design and deliver a Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) package. The role combines clinical review, guideline revision, curriculum development, and field‑level implementation monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a structured clinical review of the existing STG‑TI, identifying gaps, inconsistencies and clinical risks.
- Benchmark outpatient, preventive, child health, STI management and other services against WHO guidance and international family‑medicine standards.
- Draft and revise clinical content for the ten most common diseases, child‑health protocols, STI treatment, rational prescribing and antibiotic stewardship.
- Integrate patient‑centred, family‑centred and life‑course approaches into updated protocols.
- Coordinate technical consultations with UNRWA focal points and incorporate feedback into final drafts.
- Design the ToT curriculum, facilitator guides, participant materials, case studies, competency checklists and evaluation tools.
- Develop a practical monitoring framework to track field‑level implementation progress.
- Deliver ToT sessions (in‑person or virtual) for senior medical officers and field specialists across five operational fields.
- Support cascade training, provide online assistance during trainer sessions, and monitor uptake of the updated guidance.
Required profile
- Medical professional with expertise in family medicine and clinical guideline development.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering training programmes for health professionals.
- Familiarity with WHO clinical guidelines and international standards for family medicine.
- Ability to work collaboratively with UN agencies and adapt materials to diverse field contexts.
