Field Security Assistant

About the role

The Field Security Assistant supports the mission’s safety and security functions in Jordan, working under the Chief of Mission and the National Security Officer, with guidance from IOM’s Office of Staff Security. The role ensures that security measures are implemented effectively across all IOM sites and that staff, contractors and visitors are protected.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor implementation of security measures as defined in the Security Risks Management (SRM) process for all IOM premises.
• Supervise and coordinate security guards operating in the assigned area, ensuring compliance with Jordanian law and IOM procedures.
• Prepare and submit purchase request forms for security equipment, service agreements (fire systems, access cards, ID machines) and additional guard services.
• Conduct regular facility inspections, including spot‑checks of CCTV systems across all sites.
• Administer standard operating procedures for emergency calling, information management and 24/7 security response.
• Maintain a registered filing and tracking system for security documentation and incidents.

Required profile

• Experience in security operations or related field, preferably within an international organization.
• Knowledge of Jordanian security regulations and ability to work under local law.
• Ability to follow supervisory directions from senior security officers and collaborate with procurement and logistics units.
• Strong organizational skills for handling documentation, purchase requests and equipment tracking.
