Freelance Bot Developer for Messaging Platforms

About the role

Mindrift is seeking a freelance Bot Developer to create and maintain conversational bots for WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and similar messaging platforms. You will work remotely on the Tendem project, collaborating with AI‑piloted agents to deliver reliable, production‑ready bot solutions for customer service, booking, notifications and more.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy bots on WhatsApp Business/Cloud API, Telegram Bot API and Discord API.
• Build conversational flows, manage dialogue state and implement fallback handling.
• Integrate bots with large language models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) for natural‑language responses.
• Connect bots to backend services, databases, CRMs and third‑party APIs such as booking or payment systems.
• Handle webhooks, rate‑limits and platform‑specific message formats including interactive buttons, media and templates.
• Review and refactor AI‑generated code to ensure correctness, reliability and graceful error handling.
• Implement logging, monitoring and recovery mechanisms to keep bots healthy in production.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in backend, integration, automation or bot development.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver production‑grade bots.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
