Gender & Education Consultant (Remote, 12 Months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Gender & Education Consultant for a 12-month remote consultancy within its Global Programme Division (Education) and the UNGEI team in Amman, Jordan. The assignment advances gender equality in and through education by supporting UNICEF and UNGEI's work to strengthen gender-transformative education policies, systems and programmes. It contributes to country initiatives such as the Gender at the Centre Initiative (GCI), supports research and knowledge generation, facilitates learning and partnership engagement, and helps scale evidence-based approaches to girls' education, gender equality and inclusion.

Required profile

• Master's degree in gender or women's studies, child rights, international relations, international development, political science, sociology, psychology or economics.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in education, gender equality or child rights in diverse contexts, including emergencies and protracted crises.
• At least 5 years of experience in programming related to gender equality in education.
• At least 5 years of experience working with governments, especially Ministries of Education.
• Demonstrated experience working for women's and girls' rights, and experience partnering with CSOs and youth networks.
• Fluency in English and French, orally and in writing.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of gender equality in education, including intersectional gender equality frameworks, Gender-Responsive Education Sector Planning and Gender-Transformative Education.
• Strong data analysis skills and knowledge of gender and education data sets and national education data systems.
• Excellent communication, writing and oral presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
