GIS and Artificial Intelligence Intern

About the role

The Department of Security and Risk Management (DSRM) at UNRWA is seeking a motivated intern to support its digital transformation agenda. You will work on GIS products and AI‑assisted tools that serve five field offices, gaining hands‑on experience in a humanitarian data environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GIS products, spatial datasets, geodatabases and map‑based visualisations.
• Integrate AI features such as natural language processing, automated classification and AI‑assisted analysis into DSRM tools.
• Design low‑code applications using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Copilot Studio) and Dataverse.
• Document system logic, data models and user guidance materials.
• Test and iterate tools with feedback from field users and support data visualisation/reporting tasks.
• Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated (within one year) from a Master’s programme in GIS, Geomatics, Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience with GIS software and spatial data management (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with AI tools, large language models, Microsoft Power Platform or Dataverse is desirable but not mandatory.
