International Intern – Disability Inclusion Support

About the role

This 6‑month internship with UNRWA focuses on supporting disability inclusion across humanitarian programmes. Working from the Amman headquarters in a hybrid setting, the intern will assist in research, documentation, and coordination to promote accessible and protective services for refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk research on disability inclusion, accessibility, and relevant UN guidance.
• Draft and review tools, checklists, guidance notes, training materials and presentations.
• Prepare briefs, situation analyses, case studies and barrier assessments.
• Collect, organise and summarise disability‑related data and indicators.
• Maintain Excel trackers, data sheets and basic summaries.
• Assist in drafting reports, meeting notes, concept notes, proposals and communication materials.
• Support coordination with UNRWA departments, field offices and technical partners.
• Help organise meetings, workshops, webinars and learning sessions.
• Document lessons learned, promising practices and challenges from field experience.

Required profile

• University degree or current studies in disability studies, human rights, international development, humanitarian action, public policy, social sciences or related fields.
• Strong interest in disability inclusion, refugee response and protection.
• Experience in research, writing, reporting or proposal development.
• Ability to travel across UNRWA sectors when required.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is preferred.
