Java Engineer

About the role

Nortal is seeking a mid‑level Java Engineer to own feature delivery and shape how solutions are built for complex, distributed systems. You will work within a cross‑functional team, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple feature implementations, conduct code reviews, and coordinate bug fixes and deployments.
• Implement continuous delivery, DevSecOps practices, and manage test data for integration and UI tests.
• Create and maintain API documentation and technical user stories; share knowledge through brown‑bag or lunch‑and‑learn sessions.
• Identify new business opportunities and bring them to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Integrate AI tools into daily workflow while ensuring compliance with data handling policies.

Required profile

• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in Java backend development.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL schema design; Oracle experience is a plus.
• Understanding of design patterns, caching, search patterns, and when to apply functional vs. object‑oriented methodologies.
