Java Software Engineer

About the role

IWDT is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join its digital transformation team in Amman. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining back‑end services and APIs that power the company’s platform initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java‑based applications.
• Build secure, scalable, and reliable back‑end services and RESTful APIs.
• Design and optimise relational database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
• Identify and resolve performance issues in applications and databases.
• Integrate internal platforms, databases, smart systems, and third‑party services.
• Apply object‑oriented principles and established design patterns.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of computer‑science fundamentals and software development principles.
• Hands‑on experience with back‑end web development and server‑side frameworks.
• Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
