Monitoring and Evaluation Senior Officer

About the role

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking a senior professional to lead the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) functions for two water‑related projects in Jordan. Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager, Water and Climate Change, the officer will ensure robust MEAL systems, high‑quality data and compliance with donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain MEAL frameworks for the Jordan Integrated Landscape Management Initiative and the King Talal Dam watershed project.
• Develop and update baselines, indicators and data collection tools, ensuring data quality and verification.
• Produce regular analytical reports for donors, senior management and partners, highlighting findings and recommendations.
• Facilitate learning workshops, capture lessons learned and support adaptive management across project components.
• Coordinate with technical partners, government agencies and UN entities to align monitoring activities with project objectives.
• Ensure compliance with IUCN policies, donor guidelines and gender‑social inclusion requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in environmental science, natural resources management, development studies or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning for environmental or conservation projects.
• Proven experience managing MEAL systems in multi‑partner, donor‑funded contexts.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities, with fluency in English.
