Project Officer: Humanitarian Response

About the role

ActionAid is seeking a Project Officer to support its humanitarian response and resilience‑building programmes across Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. The role involves close collaboration with partners, local communities and internal teams to ensure high‑quality project delivery in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets.
• Develop and update workplans and improvement plans together with the Program Manager.
• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to identify community priorities.
• Ensure implementation meets AA Accountability standards and Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
• Make regular field visits, document findings and support community‑based structures.
• Maintain direct contact with partner teams, community leaders and stakeholder groups.
• Participate in coordination meetings with NGOs, UN agencies and local authorities.
• Hold self and partners accountable for results and compliance with policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in the Middle East.
• Ability to travel frequently to field sites and work in insecure contexts.
• Strong understanding of IDP, refugee and host‑community dynamics.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with NGOs, CBOs and networks.
