PV Design Engineer

About the role

Affinity Power & Control, a specialist in power and control systems based in Jordan, is looking for a hands-on PV Design Engineer. You will lead the technical design and implementation of PV solar, substation and BESS projects for commercial, industrial and utility-scale clients, from concept through detailed design to on-site commissioning, working closely with the SCADA and automation team.

Key responsibilities

• Design PV systems end to end: string length, cable calculations, protection selection and energy yield assessment
• Prepare rooftop and ground-mounted PV layouts, including cable runs, mounting structures, walkways, panels and inverters
• Produce electrical drawings, layouts and single-line diagrams to a professional, buildable standard
• Lead the preparation and review of Functional Design Specifications from customer requirements and tenders
• Work with the team on system requirements and detailed proposals for client RFPs
• Lead installation, evaluation, maintenance and commissioning of PV and BESS systems, and troubleshoot electrical faults on site
• Evaluate designs and drawings against local regulations, codes and international standards, and act as Owner's Engineer for outside consultants
• Support procurement by selecting modules, inverters, cables and protection devices
• Represent the company technically with customers, suppliers and partners, and coordinate with procurement and project management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in PV project design, setup and implementation, with a track record from design to site execution
• Experience in BESS projects is a strong plus; EPC project experience is a plus
• Fluency in Arabic and English (at least B2/C1)
• Willingness to travel to project sites in Jordan and the wider region, and a valid driver's license with a vehicle

• AutoCAD for electrical drawings and SLDs, PVsyst for yield assessment, Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with SCADA and M&C systems, MV switchgear design and power system studies (load flow, short circuit) are a plus
