Receiving Officer / Storekeeper

About the role

The Receiving Officer/Storekeeper is responsible for managing all incoming supplies and equipment for a hospital, ensuring accurate documentation, safe handling, and timely distribution to the appropriate departments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, verify, and accept all deliveries against purchase orders and check for damage.
• Process all related paperwork (packing slips, bills of lading, receiving reports, logs) to enable payment authorization.
• Enter and update receiving data in the ERP system, including receipts, returns to stock, and vendor returns.
• Prepare items for return shipments and coordinate with user departments and purchasing.
• Assist clerical staff with filing, maintain store records, and deliver items to departmental locations.
• Maintain a clean, dust‑free receiving area and comply with safety and infection‑control procedures.
• Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment; unload items at the loading dock.
• Support additional functions as required and ensure adherence to department policies.

Required profile

• Diploma in Business Administration or related Applied Sciences.
• 1‑3 years of experience in a similar hospital or medical‑supply environment.
• Strong knowledge of medical, surgical and healthcare products, including consumables used in operating theatres.
• Familiarity with automated inventory control systems is preferred.

Required skills

• Forklift operation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems for receiving and inventory management.
• Experience using automated inventory control software.
