Red Hat Engineer / Architect - Cloud Consulting

About the role

EY's Cloud and Technology Consulting practice is expanding its hybrid cloud capability for enterprise, government and regulated-industry clients across the Middle East. It is looking for a Red Hat Engineer / Architect based in Amman to design, build, operate and improve Red Hat-based platforms across on-premises, hybrid and public cloud environments. The role is hands-on and client-facing, combining platform engineering, architecture, automation, reliability and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement Red Hat OpenShift across on-premises data centres and public cloud, including multi-cluster and hybrid topologies
• Maintain RHEL standard operating environments, hardened images, patching baselines and lifecycle management with Red Hat Satellite
• Build infrastructure automation with Ansible and GitOps tools such as Argo CD and OpenShift GitOps
• Design platform services: ingress, service mesh, API gateway, container registries, secrets management and certificates
• Support day-two operations: cluster upgrades, capacity management, performance tuning, incidents and problems
• Implement observability with Prometheus, Grafana and OpenShift monitoring, integrated with SIEM and ITSM
• Provide foundations for API and microservices workloads, including mTLS, OAuth 2.0, rate limiting and consent management
• Embed security and regulatory controls, use compliance-as-code, support audits and maintain vulnerability and patch management
• Take part in client workshops and design sessions, and produce designs, architecture decision records, operating models and migration roadmaps
• Contribute to proposals, estimates, demos, PoCs and reference architectures, and share knowledge with colleagues

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering or solution architecture, with hands-on Red Hat OpenShift delivery and operations
• Experience with hybrid environments spanning on-premises infrastructure and at least one public cloud (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud)
• Experience applying security, risk, audit or compliance controls in enterprise or regulated environments
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience; Red Hat certifications strongly preferred
• Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is advantageous

Required skills

• RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite
• Kubernetes, including networking, storage, RBAC and admission control
• API and microservices security patterns (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS)
• Ansible, Bash or Python scripting; Terraform is advantageous
• Advantageous: Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management, Advanced Cluster Security, OpenShift Service Mesh, Quay, OpenStack, API management platforms (3scale, Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management), and cloud or architecture certifications (Azure, AWS, Red Hat, TOGAF)
