RPA Mx AGE Mechanic I - Deployment Pool

About the role

This is a USAF position in the Deployment Pool supporting an Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE) shop in a medium to large-sized military aircraft flying organization. The employee supports deployments to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required and must be flexible about deployment and work schedules. The USAF equivalent is AGE Mechanic Apprentice.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain external fuel and grounding systems and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on ground support equipment (GSE)
• Inspect, test and operate GSE to determine serviceability, and service it with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment and technical publications
• Disassemble, repair, clean and treat for corrosion GSE components, then assemble and reinstall them; stencil and mark GSE per technical publications
• Store, handle, label, use and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in line with environmental standards
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, and operate, clean, inspect and service GSE towing vehicles
• Assist in maintaining vehicle and equipment records, provide dispatch service for GSE, and position equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations
• Follow safety procedures and technical orders, practice good housekeeping, tool control and foreign object damage prevention

Required profile

• High school diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum
• At least one year of actual AGE maintenance experience
• Qualified in the most basic types and uses of AGE equipment
• Able to perform Increment Monitor duties such as equipment and cargo preparation, documentation, pallet build-up and hazardous cargo handling
• Must meet OCONUS deployment criteria, including pre-deployment medical screening, and be able to deploy to forward locations as directed
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment over 50 pounds for extended periods and speak, read, write and understand English
• Active Secret US Government clearance within the last 12 months (US citizenship required); updated SF-86 submitted within 30 days of hire
• Current state driver's license and ability to obtain a flight-line government driver's license; fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster

Required skills

• Familiarity with diesel engine maintenance and repair, and HVAC maintenance and repair at a basic level
• Ability to inspect, repair and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment
• Preferred: associate degree, RPA deployment experience, prior defense contractor experience, vehicle operator training, and AGE mechanic experience within the last 10 years
