Safety Coordinator - Engineering Department

About the role

A hotel belonging to the Accor network, which groups more than 45 brands, 5,500 hotels, 10,000 restaurants and lifestyle destinations, is looking for a Safety Coordinator in its Engineering Department. The role supports the implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental procedures, keeping the workplace safe for staff, guests and contractors while meeting Accor standards, local regulations and hotel safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with hotel safety procedures, engineering standards and local regulations
• Carry out regular safety inspections of workshops, plant rooms, equipment and technical areas
• Identify hazards and unsafe practices and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure preventive maintenance is carried out safely and in line with procedures
• Monitor permit-to-work procedures (hot work, confined space entry, work at height) and ensure PPE is used, stored and maintained correctly
• Organise safety training and awareness sessions for Engineering staff
• Maintain inspection records, incident reports, risk assessments and related documentation
• Report accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions to the Chief Engineer and relevant departments
• Keep fire safety equipment, emergency exits and safety signage in good condition and accessible
• Monitor the safe handling and storage of chemicals, tools and engineering materials
• Coordinate with Security, Housekeeping and Health & Safety teams, support internal and external safety audits and follow up on corrective actions
• Promote environmental awareness, energy efficiency and sustainable engineering practices, and perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is an advantage
• Previous experience in engineering operations, safety coordination or a similar role is preferred
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, risk assessments and preventive maintenance
• Familiarity with fire safety, emergency procedures and the use of PPE
• Good communication, organisational and reporting skills, basic computer skills and accuracy in record keeping
