Satellite Communications O&M Support Engineer

About the role

The SATCOM O&M Support position ensures the reliable day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of assigned satellite communication terminals. You will work on both tactical and commercial satellite equipment, supporting mission‑critical communications for U.S. government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of satellite modems, redundancy switches, up/down converters, HPAs, LNAs, LNBs, waveguide joints, and IF cabling.
• Maintain antenna systems, including motors, SSPA, ACU, HVAC units, UPS, and generators where applicable.
• Generate technical documentation for SAR, GAR, TSR, and ASI requests.
• Utilize test measurement and diagnostic equipment (power meters, spectrum analyzers, Firebird testers, volt meters) to verify system performance.
• Support modem hub operations and manage TDMA/FDMA modem configurations in tactical environments.
• Travel up to 10% to field sites to support mission requirements.

Required profile

• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (interim acceptable) and U.S. citizenship.
• Associate’s degree in Electronics preferred, or equivalent certifications with 7‑11 years of specialized experience.
• DoD 8140 qualification for Network Operations Specialist (441) via approved certifications (e.g., CND, Network+).
• Minimum two years’ experience with installation, repair, or maintenance of satellite communications equipment and two years operating in a tactical satellite environment.
