Tactical SATCOM Operator

About the role

The Tactical SATCOM Operator will support mission‑critical satellite communications for U.S. government operations from Amman, Jordan. The role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting tactical VSAT systems and associated network equipment while ensuring security and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain tactical VSATs, fiber optic cabling, and CAT5E/6 infrastructure.
• Operate satellite modems, LNBs, SSPA, antenna motors, ACU, UPS and generators.
• Use test and measurement equipment such as power meters, spectrum analyzers and voltmeters.
• Configure LAN/WAN hardware (Cisco routers, switches, firewalls) and routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).
• Manage MPLS, VPLS, VPNs and wireless solutions including Riverbed and Call Manager Express.
• Integrate COMSEC equipment (KG‑175 series) and submit Satellite Access Requests.

Required profile

• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• DoD 8140 qualification (e.g., A+, Network+ or equivalent).
• At least four years experience with tactical communications equipment and satellite modems.
• Experience operating in a tactical environment with antenna controllers, fiber, coax and Ethernet cabling.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent military experience with advanced certifications.

• Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Voltmeter (TMDE equipment).
• Cisco Routers, Ethernet Switches, Firewalls, Bridges, Gateways.
• Routing protocols: RIP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF.
• MPLS, VPLS, VPN, Wireless, Riverbed, Call Manager Express.
• Fiber Optic Cabling, CAT5E/6 installation and testing.
• TDMA and FDMA network configuration.
• COMSEC equipment integration (KG‑175 series).
