ATCALS & C2 Technician

About the role

This position covers the installation, sustainment, troubleshooting and repair of air traffic control and command-and-control (ATCALS and C2) ground radar, radio, meteorological and navigational aid systems. It also includes maintaining a wide range of ATC support equipment such as DME, ILS, TACAN, VOR, STARS, TAS and others.

Key responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot and repair air traffic control radars, ground aircraft control and warning radar, air traffic control radios, and meteorological and navigational aid systems
• Solve installation, repair and modification problems using line-of-sight and tropospheric scatter techniques, and use layout drawings, schematics and diagrams to locate malfunctions
• Perform alignment and calibration procedures and conduct tests to restore and maintain systems
• Review maintenance management publications, enforce safety standards, check repaired components against technical publications and keep inspection, maintenance and equipment log records
• Maintain systems such as DME, ILS, MMLS, TACAN, VOR, STARS, TAS, and many others listed in the source

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; an associate's degree is preferred
• Formal electronics training, such as military technical training school, vocational college or a four-year electronics apprentice program, with experience in the equipment maintained
• Level I technician: four years of recent, relevant, practical experience with the equipment maintained and overseen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM medical exam
• Must hold or be able to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance (US citizenship is required)
