Security Information Analyst

About the role

The Security Information Analyst will support UNRWA’s security and risk management function by monitoring, analysing and forecasting security information that may affect personnel, assets and operations. Reporting to the Chief of Security, Policy and Planning, the role contributes to early‑warning and risk‑mitigation efforts across the agency.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security incidents, daily situation reports, local media and open sources to keep abreast of factors that could impact UNRWA operations.
• Identify security information requirements, develop trend analyses and assess the relevance, validity and reliability of gathered data.
• Track political developments and early‑warning indicators, evaluating conflict vulnerability in UNRWA’s fields of operation.
• Research and produce situation assessments, field‑specific risk analyses and security operating‑environment evaluations.
• Manage and enhance the Security Information Management System (SIMS), providing guidelines, training and capacity‑building.
• Supervise integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) methodology as a risk‑management tool at agency level.
• Review and clarify security reporting lines, strengthening communication between HQ, field and sub‑area offices.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather timely security information.
• Serve as focal point for protection, gender and programme mainstreaming issues related to security management.
