Security Manager (P-4) – Fixed Term – Amman, Jordan

About the role

UNICEF is re‑advertising a Fixed‑Term Security Manager position (P‑4) for its ECAMENA Regional Office in Amman, Jordan. The role supports the security function that enables UNICEF’s operations across a diverse and often fragile region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for security risk assessment, mitigation and response across the ECAMENA region.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures and contingency plans aligned with UNICEF’s global standards.
• Coordinate with country offices, partners and local authorities to ensure safe access and operational continuity.
• Oversee security training, incident reporting and crisis management activities.
• Advise senior management on security implications of programme and operational decisions.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree or equivalent professional experience in security management, international relations or related field.
• Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in security operations within complex, multi‑country environments.
• Proven ability to work in high‑pressure, conflict‑affected or politically sensitive settings.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• Expertise in security risk assessment and mitigation.
• Knowledge of international security standards and best practices.
• Experience with crisis management and emergency response planning.
