Senior Global Health Security Advisor – Jordan

About the role

The Senior Global Health Security Advisor will be embedded with the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) office in Amman, supporting the Jordan Ministry of Health in delivering life‑saving humanitarian assistance aligned with U.S. Executive Order directives. The role focuses on technical guidance to prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats, including zoonotic diseases, across multiple government sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and related ministries (Agriculture, Environment) for the adoption and implementation of health‑security interventions.
• Identify programmatic bottlenecks and coordinate solutions through GHS projects and the Pandemic Fund.
• Embed expertise within national infectious disease programs to strengthen surveillance, outbreak response, and coordination with U.S. Government partners.
• Collaborate with STRIDES staff and report to the onsite Ministry of Health manager.
• Facilitate multi‑sectoral coordination and capacity building for zoonotic disease detection and response.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in global health security, infectious disease programs, or related public‑health fields.
• Familiarity with U.S. Government‑funded health initiatives and experience working with government‑owned or operated (GO/GOR) entities.
• Proven ability to work in a senior advisory capacity within a multi‑sectoral environment.
• Willingness to be based onsite in Amman, Jordan.
