Senior Software Engineer – Backend & APIs

About the role

Staq is a leading Banking‑as‑a‑Service platform that enables businesses to embed banking and financial services. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the high‑performance backend systems that power our core banking and financial APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable micro‑services and RESTful APIs.
• Write clean, well‑tested Java code with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to define new features and architectural improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architectural decisions.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best engineering practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in fintech or platform environments.
• Strong proficiency in Java and experience building micro‑services.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git version control.
• Collaborative mindset and a passion for building impactful products.
