Senior Software Engineer (Java BE)

About the role

We are seeking a self‑driven Senior Software Engineer with strong Java expertise to join our Amman engineering team. The role focuses on backend development for our Content Management System, enabling authors worldwide to submit and manage research that drives scientific discovery.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop and maintain core backend systems and features.
• Collaborate with the Software Quality Assurance team within a Scrum environment to deliver high‑quality releases on schedule.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and follow Scrum methodology.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test and production environments.
• Conduct design and code reviews, manage technical debt and perform refactoring.
• Work with backend APIs, JMS, and RESTful services.
• Debug issues efficiently and support team members across different regions and time zones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional Java development experience with solid object‑oriented design skills.
• Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills in English.
• Experience defining repository structures, branching strategies and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Proven ability to balance priorities and deliver critical items on time.
