Driver (UN Development Coordination Office)

About the role

The United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) in Amman is seeking a professional driver to provide safe transportation for senior staff, visitors, and cargo. The role supports the Resident Coordinator System by ensuring reliable mobility and logistical assistance across the office and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Drive vehicles safely for the UNDCO Regional Director, authorized personnel, and general cargo.
• Deliver parcels, documents, and other items between UNDCO and external offices, ministries, UN entities, embassies, and other institutions.
• Collect urgent purchases from local suppliers and handle customs clearance for goods.
• Meet official personnel at the airport and provide courteous assistance to officials and visitors.
• Support protocol‑related logistics, including transporting and collecting documents and accompanying staff when required.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, log fuel consumption, and arrange repairs as needed.
• Report any vehicle damage or loss and follow accident‑reporting procedures.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Regional Team Leader.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and thorough knowledge of local traffic regulations.
• Familiarity with Amman’s road network, security considerations, and frequently used routes for senior staff.
• Professional demeanor with the ability to interact tactfully with officials, visitors, and UN personnel.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility for vehicle care and safety.
