DWDM Network Designer

About the role

We are looking for a DWDM Network Designer to lead the design and development of high‑capacity optical transport solutions for our backbone and submarine‑terrestrial integration projects in Damascus.

Key responsibilities

• Design DWDM and optical transport architectures including CDC‑F, ROADM‑based flexible grid, long‑haul and metro solutions.
• Develop OTN hierarchy, optical channel mapping and ODU cross‑connect designs.
• Define wavelength allocation, spectrum management and resiliency strategies.
• Perform OSNR, power budget and chromatic dispersion calculations for all links.
• Engineer optical protection switching (WDM, OADM, ROADM) and amplifier placement (EDFA, Raman).
• Integrate terrestrial DWDM backhaul with submarine cable landing stations and define interface architecture.
• Create high‑level and low‑level design documents, capacity planning models and migration roadmaps for 100G/400G/800G evolution.
• Validate vendor submissions, optical simulations and support installation, testing and commissioning teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in DWDM/OTN network design.
• Strong knowledge of ROADM, OTN, coherent modulation formats and high‑capacity wavelength design.
