Engineering Delivery & Performance Manager

About the role

First Tech is seeking an Engineering Delivery & Performance Manager to lead software development and quality‑assurance teams across back‑end, front‑end, full‑stack and QA disciplines. The role ensures that products, enhancements, defects and technical tasks are delivered on schedule, meet quality standards and comply with engineering, security and documentation guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day development and QA activities, defining clear priorities, ownership and deadlines.
• Monitor sprint, release, enhancement, defect and project commitments, flagging delays, blockers and resource constraints early.
• Coordinate recovery actions for at‑risk deliveries and escalate critical issues to the Group CTO.
• Set measurable expectations for individual and team performance, productivity, quality and delivery discipline.
• Support technical recruitment, onboarding, capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, architecture guidelines, cybersecurity policies, documentation, testing, code review, release and production‑readiness criteria.
• Track defects, reopened issues, technical debt, failed releases and production incidents.
• Identify skill gaps, organise training, mentoring, workshops and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
• Promote responsible use of AI‑assisted development and testing tools in line with company policies.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance for critical tasks, complex defects and integrations.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising development and QA teams in an engineering office.
• Strong ability to manage delivery timelines, quality metrics and capacity reporting.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with a focus on removing delivery and technical obstacles.
• Effective communication with senior leadership, especially the Group CTO.
• Commitment to fostering team growth, mentorship and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle and agile delivery practices.
• Familiarity with coding standards, architecture design, cybersecurity best practices, automated testing and code review processes.
• Experience with release management, production readiness and incident monitoring.
• Ability to evaluate technical capability, address skill gaps and organise technical training.
